The Sound?I am sorry to say that I think avantarde are some of the worst sounding speakers I have ever heard!! During my auditioin I was hoping the salesman would do some tweeking or try and make it sound better. The speakers sounded airey and hardly any bass. Did I get a proper demo? Did the sales person have it set up right? Cool look but horrible sound! Thanks
Dear Mike, I'm very sorry to hear that. We are audio engineers in the first place, so our main concern is not design (which is a too elusive mistress after all...) but sound. However, we're of course happy that so many people like the way the speakers look... ;-)
I cannot make a remote judgement (from Germany) on the demo you received, but I would not attest "timidity" in the bass to our speakers... Has it been the demo condition? Probably you'd anticipate a "yes" from me... but instead I'd like to make a different suggestion: If there was any chance that you came to CES Las Vegas, visiting our room #2013 at Alexis Park, I'm confident you'd get a different opinion on our speakers. You'd be very welcome!

A couple of months ago I purchased the Avantgarde Meta Primos from Jim Smith. I've been experimenting with the speaker's connections and the position of the jumperts. I have noticed that changing the connections & jumpers around changes the speaker's characteristics signifcantly. What is the best way, irregardeless of cost, to wire the Meta Primos? Will the the use of biwired or trwired speaker cables yield better perfomance than using jumpers? Thanks!

Kurzum - ein muß für jeden Hornliebhaber. Nicht nur, daß die Höhen und Mitten freier sind, auch der ganze Grundtonbereich under der Baß legten nochmals eine deutlich hörbare Stufe zu. !!!!!!

DUO abholen, modifizieren auf DUO OMEGA, testen, einspielen, Rücklieferung und das alles innerhalb 48 Std.!!
Vielen Dank Herr Schneider für das "Zentimetergenaue" zurecht rücken. Ich habe noch bis spät in die Nacht einen "neuen" Lautsprecher genossen. Schon heute kann ich jedem DUO-Besitzer nur dringend ans Herz legen dieses upgrade auf DUO-OMEGA durchzuführen. Ihr erhaltet einen mehr als reellen Gegenwert für jeden Euro.
Klangverhalten in Verbindung mit eurem neuen Kabel zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt.

I'm glad you made contact with Juha Silvennoinen. I'm sure you are in good hands and it would be very nice to welcome you to the Avantgarde Acoustic family soon!
There are no plans for upgraded versions of the UNO (e.g. OMEGA). When we experimented with drivers for the UNO we never reached the performance of a standard DUO, but an "enhanced" UNO would have costed more than DUO! So the best upgrade option for UNO is still to upgrade it to DUO one day.

Hello! Finland calling again! I was in contact with mr.Juha Silvennoinen the finnish importer of your products.His shop is under construction and will be opened somewhere next week.
He told me about price difference between Finland/Germany and that it is NOT a big issue!Great!
And something about UNO (which i´m interested about), do you know about the future of UNO - especially next upgrade or perhaps new version of the speaker!?
I´m not in a hurry to buy right now,but maybe next year would be OK for my next big improvement in music reproduction!!
That means going from "canned" music to LIVE music!!

vorhin ist schon mein Model 5 zurückgekommen - ich bin begeistert! Ihr Service ist genauso schnell wie die Hörner! Auf diesem Weg vielen Dank. Der Eingriff war übrigens recht erfolgreich. Der typische Einschaltknackser ist wesentlich reduziert (= so gering wie noch nie).
Zu Internetseite eine Anregung: Die "CD der Woche" ist schon mehrere Wochen alt. Vielleicht könnte man ja mal....
Noch eine (relativ eigennützige) Anregung zum geplanten neuen Showroom: Nächstes Jahr wird in Düsseldorf ein weiteres "Meilenwerk" eröffnet. Es ist doch sicher denkbar, dass sich in einem solchen Ambiente viele mögliche Interessenten für Avantgarde Acoustic Produkte herumtreiben.
Weiterhin viel Erfolg...

I am an use of the Duo. Before I bought the duo, I had listened the uno for a while at my dealer. I always feeled that the midrange of uno is somethigh wrong, because there is no image inside the sound field. One day, my dealer find a problem and told me, that is, the midrange of uno is out of phase. So we reverse the connecting wire between mid & tweeter. Then, wonderful things happens, and I bought the duo. My dealer use a machine to check the sound phase from mid-range of uno, it is out of phase. He only plug-in mid range of uno, and play a solo-violin CD to check by ear, it is out of phase. He checked all the uno that he dealed, all mid-range of uno are out of phase. Then he checked all the duo that he dealed, all the tweeter of duo are out of phase. So now I plug-in tweeter reversely, and the two connecting wires connected reversely. Would you please answer me the question, and am I doing the right thing? Thank you very much.
Dear Mr. Kao, the tweeter phase of UNO and DUO is reversed on purpose (note: this is done internally) while the midranges are connected in phase. Your measuring an inverted midrange phase may point at an absolute phase inversion, caused by the amplifiers you were using.

nachdem ich die Messe so quer gehört habe war ich nach meinem ersten Besuch schon im Vorurteil - alles Käse - bestätigt - bin ich aber zum Glück noch bei Euch gelandet. Für meine Ohren hattet mit einem einzigen Mitbewerber (auch Hörner - so radial..) den schönsten Sound - und jetzt kommts die mit Abstand beste Musik. Wenn mir das Geld reicht werde ich meine geliebten Klipsch La Scala zur Zweitanlage umbauen und Avantgarde ins Wohnzimmer stellen. - Mich erstaunt einfach die Macht des Marketing daß soviel zweitklassige Leisesprecher an den Hörer gebracht werden...

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
auf diesem Weg möchte ich Ihnen mitteilen, wie sehr mich die Vorführung der Meta Primo Lautsprecher auf der diesjährigen High End beeindruckt hat. Niemals zuvor hatte ich einen Hornlautsprecher gehört. Auch kannte ich bis dato die Marke avantgarde acoustic nicht, sorry! Und auch ohne zu wissen, wieviel Geld man benötigt um diese Lautsprecher zu besitzen hat mich dieses Klangbild nicht mehr losgelassen. Obwohl ich auch diverse "Überlautsprecher" wie z.B. von Lumen White, B&W 801 oder auch eine Grande Utopia gehört habe, zog es mich immer wieder zurück in Ihren Hörraum. Perfekte Show. Obwohl ich mit meinem Wissen, Hörempfinden und meiner Kette wohl eher zu den High End Einsteigern gehöre und auch aufgrund der Anschaffungskosten wohl niemals in den Genuss eines solchen Schallwandlers kommen werde ziehe ich meinen Hut vor soviel Ingenieurskunst.
